A talented drummer and passionate musician from Rome, Italy
Matteo was born in Rome in 1986. He moved to London in 2010 to start a career as a professional musician. He joined Tech Music School and, a year later, he joined the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, where he started the BMus Degree course.
He was a successful student, respected and loved by all his schoolmates and teachers. Sadly, at the end of summer 2013 he passed away, leaving a big hole in the hearts of all his schoolmates and friends who miss him very much.
He was a talented and intelligent young man. He loved to read books and graphic novels, draw, play games, but most of all he loved music and he was an incredibly skilled player.
He was always ready to spend time with you, to give you tips, help you in your studying or simply to cheer you up if you were feeling sad or overwhelmed. He was very giving simply because making people happy used to make him happy as well. Matteo saw music as joy, consolation, therapy and freedom and that was incredibly important for him.
The reason why I chose to open this page is because I know Matteo would be happy to know that his story is helping other people, and as a friend, fellow student and representative of his University peer group, I think this is the best way to celebrate his memory.
Matteo loved to help people and he loved music. That’s why I chose to support Youth Music. The charity helps people with music, and music was always helpful for Matteo.
Our thoughts go to his family, who we feel close to in our grief.
Bye Matteo, rest in peace and play loud.
